Sunday Dinner

We like to go to Sunday dinner either at my parents house or Kevin's parents house. It is fun for me to visit with them and laugh. I love to see my kids with their grandparents. This Sunday we went to my parents house.

This is my grandpa. He is 85 and loves Miss Mya. I have never seen him ASK to hold someones baby, we usually just put a baby on his lap but from day one he has wanted to hold her and enjoys her, which I love! When I was like 37 or 38 weeks pregnant he even asked to feel the baby kick- which SHOCKED me, he sat there next to me on the couch and felt my tummy for like 5 minutes! It was pretty special. He must be becoming a softie in his old age.

Maddy needed her picture taken too... She still thinks she is the baby and hates to share attention.

Mya and my mom, whom she is named after, Dianne. I love how they are looking at each other with the same facial expression!

Sometimes I really wish we could move out of Utah, just for the experience, but then I know I would really miss family, especially on Sunday nights.

Went to the grocery store...

Went to the grocery store and found a camel hanging out! Primary Childrens Hospital was having a fundraiser on Saturday in the Smiths parking lot so Jackson got to sit on a camel and have his picture taken.

Kind of a funny thing to do. It was something I have never done but Jackson has now!

We also donated a few dollars and rode a pony. It was so cold and rainy so we only spent a few minutes but it was a fun little experience.

Mya 4 months

Four Month Stats

(taken at 4 and a half months)

12 lbs 12 oz 17%

24 inches 23%

Head cir 16.1 in 36%

My heart is breaking.... My little Mya is 4 MONTHS OLD! How did this happen so quickly? When I was pregnant I was SO excited for a teeny baby who just cuddles and sleeps curled up in a little ball on my chest. I knew the tiny newborn phase would go quickly so I tried to cherish every moment and every second of cuddle time with my new little one, I swear she spent like 10 minutes a day in her little bed. Now here it is she is already 4 months old...

Eating- Three cheers for Me!!! I am still nursing, I haven't had to give her a bottle or formula. This is a huge deal for me as this was a big stress for me. I had a really hard time nursing Jackson and ended up quitting entirely somewhere between 3-4 months with him (right when Kevin got diagnosed with cancer.) She is 4 and a half months old right now and nursing is going just fine. She still wants to nurse every two hours during the day and has had a cold the past week so has wanted to nurse every hour and a half. *exhausting* I haven't been drinking the tea, mainly because I don't think to make any and my supply is holding up fine. Mya seems SUPER interested in food, whenever we are eating dinner she gets really annoyed and trys to grab my food or drink and watches me put food in my mouth.

Napping- we know when she's tired and have the morning nap down pretty good but she isn't sleeping very long. She takes between 2-3 naps a day but is only sleeping between 20-60 minutes. To get her to sleep we have been holding and rocking her until she is asleep and then laying her in her bed. Her doctor suggested we let her fall asleep on her own from now on... I am scared and stressed to do this. I can't handle her crying. I'm waiting till she is better from her cold then we'll work on it.

At night- She sleeps a long stretch usually around 9 pm for about 5 hours or so then sleep in increments of about 2 hours, with eating in between... I am really just a pacifier at this point. This too is another thing to work on says the doctor...

Mys is the cutest little thing with quite the wardrobe. Everywhere we go people tell us what a beautiful baby she is and how cute her outfits and hair bows are. She loves to smile and has just started to laugh. She ROLLS every which way, front to back, back to front, side to side.... She can roll from her back to her tummy then swivel herself around to face the TV. Her doctor said that this is incredible of her. By four months they are supposed to be able to roll onto their side- so she is way advanced on this. She is way interested in toys and everything goes straight into her mouth. She loves to chew on fingers and drools puddles. She flails her arms still and shakes them as if she was scared. She recently started spitting up more but she isn't bothered so much by it. She loves the bath and loves Jackson. She has been better in the car as long as Jackson or mom or dad is sitting by her. We LOVE this baby girl so much, she is certainly showered with kisses and loves all day long.

Goggle Gobble Gobble

The other day we were trying to get loaded in the car and Jackson was laying on the floor of his seat and being very "funny naughty." This is where he is being naughty but doing it in a funny, silly way, and its hard to get mad at him or yell at him when he's being playful.

Anyway, so he was laying on the floor of the car and I was telling him to get into his seat and he was totally ignoring me so to get his attention I yelled "GET UP IN YOUR SEAT!" But the way I said it was loud and it ran together and was in my "fake yelling" voice, comparable to the guys on those crocodile hunter shows down in the south who are speaking English but they use subtitles on the screen with them because you can't tell what the heck they are saying.

Well it got his attention and he turned and looked at me with a very puzzled look and said "Mom, why did you say Gobble Gobble Gobble at me?"

I burst out laughing and said I didn't say Gobble Gobble Gobble, I said Get up in your seat! I guess I needed subtitles too.
So now when I want to yell at him and he's being crazy I just Gobble at him...

Easter Outtakes

Phrase of the day:

"It's too bright!!!"

I decided it would have been easier to take a picture of two monkeys than to try to get Jackson to open his eyes and smile!

Build-a-Mya!

Mya decided to take a ride in the Build-a-Bear stroller (ok so me and Jackson decided to make her take a ride... she likes it though!)

She is still small but this tiny stroller makes her look HUGE! It cracked me up to put her in there and take her for a little stroll.

10 years....

It was almost ten years ago... I remember I was at home, I was a senior in high school but was skipping first period to sleep (not too un-common). I was getting ready when my mom came running in to get me and told me what had happened. At this time the first plane had just hit and there was mass confusion.

I remember thinking how could this have happened? I instantly thought this was an accident, and thinking how could the pilot not see the building! Then we watched as the second plane hit the second tower. That is when we realized this was no mistake. Me and Mom continued to be glued to CNN watching in horror as another plane hit the Pentagon and CNN saying there was a fourth plane that had been hijacked. I looked out the window and remember feeling scared that we were being attacked on our own soil.

On September 11th 2001 19 al-Qaeda terrorist suicide bombers hijacked four commercial jetliners. Two planes hit the two towers of The World Trade Center, one hit The Pentagon, and another was headed to Washington D.C. to either The White House or the Capital Building but crashed in a rural field in Pennsylvania after passengers and crew fought the hijackers. Nearly 3,000 people died that day.

The president George W. Bush addressed the nation that evening. This was the speech he gave.

Good evening.

Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes or in their offices: secretaries, business men and women, military and federal workers, moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror. The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge -- huge structures collapsing have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed. Our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining. Today, our nation saw evil -- the very worst of human nature -- and we responded with the best of America. With the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it's prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington D.C. to help with local rescue efforts. Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured, and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks. The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight and will be open for business tomorrow. Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business as well.

The search is underway for those who were behind these evil acts. I have directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance. America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world, and we stand together to win the war against terrorism.

Tonight, I ask for your prayers for all those who grieve, for the children whose worlds have been shattered, for all whose sense of safety and security has been threatened. And I pray they will be comforted by a Power greater than any of us, spoken through the ages in Psalm 23:

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for you are with me.

This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace. America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time. None of us will ever forget this day, yet we go forward to defend freedom and all that is good and just in our world.

Thank you. Good night. And God bless America.

I loved this speech. It was comforting and made me proud of our country. We later learned the leader behind the attacks was a man named Osama Bin Laden. He became public enemy #1. The days and weeks following the attacks were filled with photos and videos of all the damage and sorrow left. The stories about the hero's that went into the wreckage and were killed, the brave people on flight 91, and the incredible stories of survival were heartbreaking to see and read. They showed walls filled with pictures of missing people left there by their loved ones in hope of finding them alive. It makes me sad just remembering this 10 years later.

For almost ten years Osama Bin Laden evaded us but tonight President Obama has officially announced that Bin Laden has been found in Pakistan and has been killed in a military attack. I am watching Live on TV the mobs of people who have gathered in the streets outside the White House and at Ground Zero to celebrate this monumental event in the war against terror. It has brought back a lot of feelings I had 10 years ago. I do feel like this was a huge win in the war against terror but I know it would be foolish and naive to think this is in any way an end. I know this is not the end in the war on terror but I feel it absolutely is a victory for our country.

Jack the Bug Catcher

Jackson got this bug magnifying jar in his Easter basket. He and Kevin went out and caught 2 potato bugs and one ear wig looking thing.

He is so dang cute in his bug boots out looking for bugs.
