I love the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs. You get to feed giraffes!!! They are my favorite animal. I've been with Jackson a few times but Kevin hasn't ever been so for his birthday we decided to do the zoo!
Gabe feeding the giraffes, when he wasn't feeding them fast enough he ended up being licked across the head, boy was he surprised!
Their tongues are 15 inches long!!!
They let us pet them as long as we gave them crackers after.
There are so many giraffes at this zoo including two babies.
Jackson was a tad bit hesitant...
Isn't this baby so stinking cute!
Poor cold little
meerkats!
wild roaming deer all over the place
I have NEVER seen lions be so active in person. At our zoo they just lay there sleeping. These one's were growling and playing.
One female sitting on top of the other one....
The bottom one gets sick of being underneath so she stands up......
the bottom one walked around to the other side and sat right on top of the one that was just sitting on her!!! So funny!
Then the females started to pester the male lion, so he growled and whacked a few of them.
and as one walked by he grabbed her and bit her on the leg!
So Fierce!!!!
Look at that face! I swear they were putting on quite the show for us!
Kangaroo or maybe a wallaby.... Not sure which, yes I know I am half Australian and should know- but I don't.
Poor Jackson.... After his first throwing up in the car event a few days earlier he got his first nose bleed... It started bleeding super heavy earlier that morning all over his brand new clothes and all over Becca's white carpet... it was so heavy that as were trying to help him I notice a puddle on the floor of my babies blood so I loose it and go into full blown shock! So basically Becca and Kevin handled the bloody nose while I had my head between my knees (not easy to do when you are pregnant). The nose bleed had a slight relapse during the day- so in went the tissue plug.
The leopard was pacing and staring down the kids. Kevin was doing his best to harass him.
Because of the weather and time of day all the animals were SUPER active.
